Sheep Shearing

See top class shearers compete in fast paced and highly skilled shearing competitions throughout Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday 2 June, the Royal Bath & West Show will proudly host the inaugural Inter County YFC Sheep Shearing Competition, with teams from counties across the UK competing for this new award. Each team member will be challenged to shear three sheep against the other county teams whilst spectators witness their skill, determination, strength and speed.

Competition shearing has done much to raise the overall standard of sheep shearing. Good clean shearing without damage to sheep or wool remains the first and overriding priority. Speed is a bonus only when the quality is there.

On Wednesday and Saturday, you can also enjoy shearing demonstrations including a contribution from the local Guilds of Spinners and Weavers.
