According to Mind.org, research consistently shows that when employees feel their work is meaningful and they are valued and supported, they tend to have higher wellbeing levels. As well as adopting new approaches that focus on the wellbeing of their own staff, the Bath & West Showground are taking it one step further and are offering event clients the opportunity to create an environment in which their teams can thrive.
Set in a stunning 240-acre site, the Bath & West Showground offers businesses the perfect location for their next meeting, conference or event that combines the modern facilities often found in the city with the beautiful Somerset countryside. As we all know, there are huge benefits to spending time outdoors including reducing feelings of stress and improving your confidence and self-esteem. So why not team your meeting with an outdoor activity? How about Yoga on the Lawn, Segways in the Woodland or Meditation by the Lake? The possibilities are endless and after all, no one wants to spend the day staring at a PowerPoint presentation.
Continuing along the theme of reducing stress and increasing productivity, the Bath & West Showground are introducing a new scent into each meeting space. Depending on the clients’ needs, diffusers with essential oils are available including a Brain Boosting Blend, which contains rosemary to help boost concentration or Total De-Stress which contains ylang ylang which can help alleviate feelings of anxiety. In the summer months you can enjoy the natural scent of freshly cut grass across the Bath & West Showground – a guaranteed way to lift your mood.
A well-balanced diet is key to providing us with the energy we need to keep our bodies fuelled for the day. The Bath & West Showground have therefore created a menu that is packed full of health benefits, including mouth-watering fruit platters, immune strengthening superfood salads and mood-boosting energy balls.
This is paired with refreshing drink options including a variety of teas, delicious fruit juices and chilled water. If it is an intense day of training, then you may even need a cleansing juice to lift those energy levels & promote productivity. Of course, if you just want to keep simple with the traditional tea, coffee & cake option, this is available too (because sometimes there is nothing better than a sweet treat in the afternoon).
If you need to take a moment for yourself then the newly created ‘Quiet Room’, can be used by anyone visiting the Showground. Painted in calming tones and furnished with comfortable seating and air cleaning plants, it provides a great safe space to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy a moment of calm. Specific calming activities will be available, including breathing techniques, positive affirmations, and signposting to external organisations. A calming playlist will also be available to download, helping to sooth those feelings of stress and anxiety. The Bath & West Team also have trained Mental Health First Aiders, should you feel you need some assistance.
