Taking over the reins from the Hon. Charlotte and James Townshend at the Society’s Council meeting at the Bath & West Showground, Lord & Lady Radnor will spend the next year finding out more about the inner workings of the Society and joining the Team at the Dairy Show 2022, the Field to Food Education Day 2023 & the Royal Bath & West Show 2023.
Lord Radnor will be the fourth from his family to be President of the Royal Bath & West Society. The first recorded Earl of Radnor to be President was in 1905, followed again in 1919 and again in 1963.
Handing over their presidential badge of office, the Hon. Charlotte and James Townshend commented: “We have very much enjoyed meeting such a wide group of people during the year. The Society’s greatest assets are the people; the council members, staff, trustees & volunteers who are an incredible resource and make a huge difference.”
Lord Radnor said “it is a great honour to be invited to be Joint Presidents, particularly because of our close connections to the Society. Charlotte & James will be a hard act to follow.”
