Our National Show will once again take place on Wednesday 2nd October at The Dairy Show, kindly hosted by the Royal Bath & West of England Society.

Alan Lyons, Head of Shows said “We are delighted to once again welcome the National Jersey Show to the Dairy Show, it was an honour and pleasure in both 2017 & 2018. Jersey classes have always been strong at Dairy Show, and we look forward to welcoming Jersey Exhibitors old and new to the Showground in October”.

Classes will be held for calves and showmanship on the evening of Tuesday 1st with a full range of Jersey classes the following morning. We are excited to continue with our “Lifetime Class” to showcase the longevity of our Jersey Cow. This is open to Senior Cows in higher lactation numbers who are wonderful examples of our breed.

We are thrilled to welcome internationally renowned dairy judge Jeff Sayles of Bridon Farms, Ontario, Canada to preside over this prestigious event.

Jeff along with his brother Bruce and father Brian, milk 100 Jerseys with two DeLaval robots that were put in in 2014. The farm runs 600 acres comprising hay, corn, wheat and soybeans which are all used within the Jersey herd. The main barn for the herd has a compost pack, an area for calving cows and a calf barn.

Jeff, his wife Julie and their three daughters, Eva (11), Hannah (8) and Bella (5) live on the family farm where Jeff grew up. Julie teaches in nearby Ayr and their daughters keep them busy as they are keen hockey players in the Autumn and Winter.

Jeff has judged for a number of years in Canada and the USA and will judge in Australia in late October 2019. Bridon Farms Inc have had numerous All Canadian nominations over the years and were proud to receive the Master Breeder from both Jersey Canada and Holstein Canada in 2011. In 2018 the herd surpassed fifty plus straight years of breeding or owning an All Canadian nomination.

With a strong belief in the importance of cow families, the following have been notable at Bridon: Jaspar Renaissances Evening; Huronia Centurion Virginia; Premonition Grace; Sample Patrice and Favourite Lassie Lou.

Bridon Excitation of course needs no introduction, as one of the most influential Sires within the Jersey breed.

With a real focus on the dedication and sacrifices involved to flourish in farming and show business, the whole family have truly succeeded.

We are honoured that Jeff has accepted our invitation to judge our 2019 National Show and are very excited to present to him the quality of Jersey cattle in the UK.
