Arranged by the Meetings Industry Association, the miaList celebrates inspirational individuals and teams – showcasing the best of the event sector and recognising those who go above and beyond the call of duty to make their organisation a success.

Taking place in London on Friday 6th October, the awards featured a sparkling drinks reception, delicious 3 course meal, a wonderful array of entertainment – including the Hakka both performed and taught to the room and of course, the prestigious awards ceremony.

In a LinkedIn post shared by the miaList, they commented that the award was presented to someone whose ‘Remarkable contributions to the meetings and events industry have earned them this prestigious honour. Congratulations on being a true industry standout!’

The awards range from Venue of the Year to the Sustainability Award, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion award and the finale – the Individual of the Year Awards. The Individual of the Year award celebrates being a leader within the industry and was won by our very own Charly Andrews – an honour that couldn’t be more fitting for our Head of Commercial Sales at the Bath & West Showground.

During the presentation speech, the presenter stated that Charly was ‘an inspiring individual with a bright future ahead, who has proved that putting the welfare of others does not mean that revenue has to suffer. Showing the importance of both wellbeing and revenue and proving they can go hand in hand’.

Over the past year, Charly has grown the events at the Showground by 120% with back-to-back events displaying more variety than ever. From the old favourites like Truckfest, The Antiques and Collectors Fair and the Big Southwest Wedding Fair, to facilitating the return of the ever popular New Wine for 2024, and to brand new events such as The European CrossFit Championships and cheerleading competitions.

Charly commented on receiving the award ‘To even be nominated for the Individual Award, let alone be shortlisted and then chosen as a winner on the miaList, is a real honour. I feel incredibly proud of this achievement, and excited for what is to come at the Showground in the future.’
