The ever-popular British Cider Championships is set to return to the Royal Bath & West Show on 2-4 June 2022, and visitors can get involved too thanks to a feature unique to the Bath and West’s Orchards and Cider Exposition, “The People’s Choice”.
On each of the three days of the show, visitors will get the chance to taste and judge six of the prize-winning ciders from previous British Cider Championships:
- Dry Ciders on the first day (2 June)
- Medium Ciders on the second (3 June)
- Sweet Ciders on the third (4 June)
The ciders which receive the most votes on each day will receive the coveted accolade of being “The People’s Choice”. Chairman of Orchards & Cider, Anthony Gibson, explains the thinking behind the initiative:
“Giving people the chance to contrast and compare some of the finest ciders in the land is obviously a whole lot of fun, but there is also a more serious side, in that these are completely blind tastings, so they do give a genuine indication of where public taste does – or doesn’t – lie”.
“And combined with the tutored cider-tastings, we are helping people both to understand and to enjoy what makes a really good cider, which is what Orchards and Cider is all about!”
The People’s Choice Award takes place in the Orchard & Cider Marquee which is located on Avenue B. It only costs £1 to take part. Be sure to pop by and vote for your favourite.
