In 2019 the Wessex Pavilion Bar & Restaurant underwent a £1.2m refurbishment. Completed in May 2019, in time for the Royal Bath & West Show, the team began working on putting together their own programme of events. Unfortunately, COVID-19 hit in early 2020, ruining any plans made to show off our amazing new facility.

Fast forward three years and we are finally in a position where we can really make the most of our Bar & Restaurant. I caught up with Paul, our newly appointed Front of House Coordinator, to find out how we already utilise the Bar & Restaurant and any future plans we have in the pipeline…

Hello Paul, for anyone who has never been to the Wessex Pavilion Bar & Restaurant, tell us more about it…

It currently provides a comfortable area of respite during busy events. However, we are working towards making it a fantastic venue for standalone events. It has two floors, which overlook our Main Ring, along with a decking area that is the perfect place to enjoy a nice cold drink on a summers day!

What type of events are already held in the Wessex Pavilion?

The Wessex Pavilion currently hosts a huge variety of events such as training and conferences, formal sit-down meals, awards dinners, Show events and private parties.

It’s such an amazing facility, do you have plans to open more regularly?

Absolutely! We are working on opening more often, with our dream goal being to have it open as a central hub in its own right at the Bath and West Showground, catering for offices on site as well as local businesses and residents. So if you live or work locally, keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Do you have any specific plans for the summer?

We aim to show some major sporting events over the Summer. We are thinking things like Wimbledon, Major Football / Rugby Tournaments, the Olympics or even Darts competitions. We have also partnered with Bingo Loco, who are hosting an amazing night of music & bingo on 10th June 2023. Tickets are on sale now & selling fast!
