Welcome to the Country Land & Business Association trade stand.
The South West is the most important agricultural region in the country - as well as being a major tourist destination, home to two national parks, World Heritage sites and a host of fragile and important landscapes. The CLA is the organisation which is best placed top reconcile the often conflicting demands of this diverse region and to represent it effectively at national, regional and local level.
The CLA in the South West not only represents the interests of the people who own, farm and manage the land, but it also campaigns for the kind of vibrant and healthy rural economy which supports the beauty of the landscape, the diversity of the environment and the populations of our villages and market towns.
We have two CLA offices serving the region, one in converted farm buildings on a Duchy of Cornwall owned farm at Bradninch, Devon and one in converted outbuildings at Hartham Park, Corsham, Wiltshire. Between the two offices we are able to access the whole region and we are accessible to all our members if they should need to come to one of the offices. The CLA in the region operates as a single, integrated team looking after the interests of its members effectively and efficiently.
John Mortimer is Director with responsibility for the overall management of regional business and membership; Paul Millard is Communications & Marketing Manager and edits the bi-monthly regional magazine. We are fortunate in having three regional surveyors, Sarah Slade, is based in the West of the region and also provides the National lead on dairy and bovine TB, Claire Stuckey, is based in the Hartham Office and Patrick Watson is based in the Bradninch Office.
