Food & Drink
Always one of the most popular attractions at the show, the vast food halls contain a huge variety of regional treats as well as produce from further afield. This is your opportunity to taste some delicious produce and ask questions about it's originals; from Cornish Cheese to Somerset Cider Brandy, Ice Cream made on the Mendip Hills and Welsh Oggies...food lovers will be in heaven!
The Food Halls are divided into three:
Spirit of the West - as the name suggests, you'll fine regional cider, wine and beer producers here.
Exmoor Halls - home to producers from all over the UK including freshly made lemonade, pancakes and even a TV celebrity selling sausages from his Essex farm.
The Finest of the West - contains some of the best producers in the region including Denhay Spoiltpig, Gerald David, Thoroughly Wild Meat Company and Sheppys Cider to name but a few.
National Cheese Awards
The National Cheese Awards comprises of 67 categories including the highest number of cheddar classes in the country. Judges will be presenting the Awards on Wednesday the 2nd June. Visitors will be able to enjoy an incredible diversity of cheese from dairy producers who enter the competition, not only from this country - but all over the world.
About The National Cheese Awards:
The National Cheese Awards will feature the highly competitive cheese and dairy produce classes, which attract over seven hundred entries and are judged by a panel of specially selected guest judges. Orchards & Cider
The biggest cider competition in the country takes place in the Orchard and Cider pavilion at The Royal Bath and West Show. Entrants from all corners of the kingdom compete for the title of Supreme Championship.
Warm and dry weather this spring has meant that the trees blossomed exceptionally early; hopefully it will bring a good harvest and some high quality cider later in the year. Entries for the cider, perry and apple juice competition have set a record for the tenth year in succession. There are new classes and new exhibitors this year. Principal judge Lord Fellowes, of Downton Abbey fame, leads an experienced team of experts from all over the country.
Many of the well-loved displays are back again, including daily Wassailing, the Confederation Jazz Band and the Woodlanders, that splendid Dorset team of traditional cidermakers. Tutored cider and apple juice tasting, master classes in cidermaking by one of the country’s leading experts, grafting demonstrations and advice on orchard management all combine to make your visit to Orchards & Cider, informative, relaxing and fun.

When HRH the Countess of Wessex unveils the commemorative plaque in front of the new Ray Williams Marquee on Thursday, we will be remembering a major figure from the Long Ashton Research Station, who died earlier this year. The East Malling Research exhibit will focus on Ray’s range of new varieties of cider apples (the “Girls”), as reported on television earlier this year, and some of his colleagues will be on hand to discuss what is being done in Fruit Research and Development.
The Royal Bath & West Show is very grateful to its supporters and sponsors including Gaymer Cider Company, SWECA, Thatcher's Cider Company, The Worshipful Company of Fruiterers and The Worshipful Company of Coopers.
