Doroth the Dormouse!
Owning the land on which endangered species live is the best way to ensure their future.
PTES owns two reserves so far. Briddlesford Woods on the Isle of Wight (130ha) and Rough Hill Orchard in Worcestershire (4ha). Briddlesford Woods is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a candidate SAC (Special Area of Conservation). It is the largest remaining block of ancient woodland on the Island and is home to red squirrels, hazel dormice, Bechstein's and barbastelle bats.
Rough Hill is a traditional old orchard on the banks of the river Avon in Worcestershire. It is home to a number of rare invertebrates and plants including the great dodder.
