FRIDAY 8TH JULY 10.00-4.00 GUILDHALL BATH

The theme of the Your Community, Your Planet conference is promoting participation in sustainability through community learning and action. The aim is to inspire participants through a lively mixture of presentations, workshops and demonstrations. The conference is aimed at people working on environmental or sustainability issues, or new to the area.

The varied day will include a wide range of presentations by both young people, policy makers, community workers and academics. Participative workshops will encompass innovative case studies on community growing projects, creating sustainable neighbourhoods and eco-footprinting as well as developing Education for Sustainable Development policies, participative project evaluation and acquiring EU funding. Through the day there will also be a series of demonstrations of different examples of community learning (‘Environmental Tips for the Home’ by a group of people with learning disabilities, seasonal cookery class by a local chef, and a group of young people demonstrating their bike re-cycling project).

To maximise networking and the dissemination of innovative ideas there will be plenty of breaks, with time to visit stalls from many diverse projects. If your organization would like to book a stall please contact Kate Allport on 01225 787912.

A key aspect of the conference is how we actively embed sustainability into our everyday lives. The lunch will be locally sourced and there will be a gardening event where all participants will have the opportunity to sow some seeds and help contribute towards carbon sequestration from their journey.
