PRODUCED IN SOMERSET SCHEME
CRITERIA FOR PRODUCED IN SOMERSET SCHEME
All produce should originate within the administrative boundary of Somerset County Council (“the county”).
Primary agricultural and horticultural products - fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, milk, eggs - should originate from producer’s holdings within the county.
(a) All ingredients must be traceable.
(b) Processed products should consist of ingredients all of which originate in the county. Where it can be demonstrated that ingredients cannot be sourced in the county, a food or drink may continue to be marketed under the scheme provided that more than 50% of the food or drink consists of ingredients originating in the county.
For all raw meat, over 50% of the animal’s life must have been spent on a holding in the county.
Plants should be grown from seed or propagated on a holding within the county; or have spent a minimum of 75% of growing life in the county.
All labelling composition and promotional materials must conform to current legislation.
