Celebrating 30 Years and still pure Dairy!

2010 sees the Dairy Show reach a 30 year milestone. This one day event has become one of the most important dates in the dairy farmer's calendar, combining a comprehensive trade show with an exhibition of top quality Dairy Cattle. The Show attracts over 280 tradestands from across the Country and beyond and with over 250 cattle this Show is the place to be seen and visit.

In its 30th Year the Show as ever continues to provide the Dairy Farmer or Farm Manager with a complete "one stop shop" event at which to meet the Milk Buyers, Feed Suppliers, AI Companies and Consultants, plus it showcases an extensive display of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment. Many of the farmers and businesses also hail the event as an excellent and profitable networking opportunity. Throughout the day the Theatre also hosts an array of topical seminars.

This years Show includes the new Southwest Herdsperson Competition and international judging panel including representatives from Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Ireland and Scotland. The Society also runs a very popular competition entitled "South West Dairy Farmer of the Year" which aims to highlight those Dairy farms that demonstrate good management practice and innovation.

Dairy Cattle are at the heart of the Show with 300 entries covering the 6 main breeds plus classes for calves and Junior Showmanship classes to encourage the exhibitors of the future. The classes reach an exciting climax at the end of the day with each breed champion judged by a panel of judges marking the entrants out of ten with all hoping for the elusive 50 out of 50.

Please note that judging of the SHOWMANSHIP classes followed by the CALF classes will take place on TUESDAY 5th October commencing at 5:30pm in the Showering Pavilion. Judging on Wednesday will commence at 9:30am in Rings 1 and 2 in the Showering Pavilion. Click here for the full programme of judging.

The prestigious Dairy Industry Dinner is held the evening before the Show and hosts over 300 of the leading figures from the world of Dairying including producers, processors and retailers. The dinner is preceded with a key note speaker who generally will have a topical or controversial subject to deliver to the floor.
